‘Plant Giveaway’ in honour of Pete Kelly
Pete was the inspiration behind the livesimply ‘Plant Swap’ weekends and in his honour the parish organised a ‘Plant Giveaway’ as a special way to remember him and mark the day of his parish Requiem Mass and Crematorium service of committal. The plants were set out in St Joseph’s car park and parishioners were invited to choose a souvenir plant to take home and plant in their gardens in memory of Pete. The wonderful range of plants also included many grown by Pete and donated by Pete’s family: leeks, red cherry tomatoes, yellow cherry tomatoes, plum tomatoes, lettuce, spinach, cabbage, brussels sprouts, green beans, pumpkins, peas, rosemary, sage, sweetcorn, cucumber, chilli peppers, sweet peppers and many more.
The ‘Plant Giveaway’ continued through the weekend, and the event was strongly supported by the parish. Many thanks to Janet Quinlan and the livesimply group for organising the event.
