Franciscan Centre at Ladywell
The Franciscan Centre Ladywell’s beautiful buildings and more than 70 acres of grounds beyond, create an ideal environment to take quiet time away from the haste and hurry of everyday life, invest deeply in your spirituality and experience the inclusive love of God. You are welcome here just as you are, without exception.
We offer a varied programme of retreats and workshops inspired by Franciscan spirituality, as well as individually guided retreats and quiet days. During these you can also book to meet with a spiritual director to support you in listening for the gentle voice of God in your life.
You are welcome to attend any of our events either residentially or as a day guest. Though even if you are local, it’s worth considering the newly refurbished en-suite accommodation at the centre, to immerse yourself fully in your search for solace and connection with God. The accommodation comprises of single, twin, and double rooms, as well as apartments.
We also often host groups, both residentially and for day events, as our facilities include several meeting rooms, parlours, and conference spaces with AV equipment.

Ladywell Convent is situated within St Edmund’s Parish and is home to the Sisters of the Franciscan Missionaries of the Divine Motherhood. The community is an international missionary congregation of Catholic women who seek to proclaim with their lives the joy and freedom of the Gospel, in the spirit of Francis and Clare of Assisi; the Franciscan Centre Ladywell (FCL) is a result of that generosity.
