A Week of Guided Prayer

A Week of Guided Prayer is a way of making a directed retreat in the midst of our busy day. It is also often called a Retreat in Daily Life.

There is a wonderful opportunity to take part here in Godalming, from Sunday 16th to Friday 21st June, kindly hosted by the Franciscan Centre Ladywell. This Week of Guided Prayer has been arranged for our parish, but is open to anyone, particularly those in the parishes of Guildford Deanery and surrounding areas. The retreat is based at the Franciscan Centre Ladywell.

This retreat allows retreatants to step away from the noise and haste of everyday life and into the quiet beauty of the Franciscan Centre each day, without being away overnight or needing to book time off work.  Participants commit to spending 30 minutes each day in prayer, as well as coming to Ladywell each day to talk about their prayer experience with a trained Spiritual Director and to enjoy the wonderful grounds and prayer spaces. Your Spiritual Director will listen attentively and offer suggestions for allowing you to go deeper into your relationship with God. These 30-minute one-to-one sessions run from Monday to Friday, at a time convenient to the retreatant and their Director.

The pattern of the week will be

Sunday 16th of June at 2.30pm a group session to introduce participants to the format of the week; to give some explanation of praying with scripture; to spend some time in prayer together; to introduce retreatants to their Spiritual Director for the week; to give any other information that people may need at the start of their retreat and to share some light refreshments together.

Sunday to Friday Individual daily prayer and meetings with spiritual directors.

Wednesday 19th June at 7.30pm a collective session on “Discernment”.

Friday 21st June at 7.30 everyone comes together again to share their experiences and to bring the week to a prayerful close.

Please consider a donation of £50 to cover the costs.
